Derek Anderson? Question: Hey guys! Does anyone know if Derek Anderson is staying with the Browns for sure or not? Smooches to everyone! Answer: Still to be decided. It has been made apparent that he is NOT the QB of the future though... the Browns are offering a 2 yr deal, where as he is wanting a 6. Can't blame either one for their strance. One is looking out for his own livelihood, the other for the Team. Unfortunately for DA, I believe the somewhat poor way he ended the season, combined with his dismal ProBowl outing (he was the only QB to look bad. Only made 8 out of 20, or some such.... when he had K2 and Braylon to throw to), may have hurt his bargaining position,as it is apparent that while he IS good... the O-line was the real difference maker between 06 DA, and 07 DA. If he is truly smart.... he will shop the market for the big money NOW, while his stock is still hot, and there are plenty of teams in need, like Chicago, Miami, SF, etc..... Not the best thing for the Browns, but Quinn will be fine (I've watched the Kid for years..... Weis might not be the best head coach in the world...but he does know QBs)..... the bigger problem is your schedule (well..the whole NFC Norths schedule..... OUCH!) |

Should I start Derek Anderson against the Patriots in week 5? Question: Should I start Derek Anderson who plays the patriots this week or should I start Philip Rivers vs the Broncos who got the #1 rated pass defense. Anderson has been playing better than Rivers has but he does play a tough Pats defense. On the other hand, Rivers hasn't done much for me and he does play the best pass defense in the NFL. Who should I go with? Answer: Ouch. I mean, Carson Palmer only had one TD last week. Derek Anderson is nothing special, and they are going to be all over him. Rivers has to try to work against Bailey and Bly, and Denver is much weaker against the run. LT might have better luck passing than Rivers. I guess I subscribe to the theory of "cosmetic points." Late in the 4th quarter, in the Prevent-Defense, maybe Anderson can string something together against Pats. I would rather see you go get Jason Campbell or David Garrard and try your luck that way. But go Anderson, and maybe you'll get lucky. It has been a weird season. |

Should I start Derek Anderson or David Garrard this weekend? Question: Derek Anderson is hurt,but I have in reserve David Garrard.Who should I go with? Answer: Tough one. The Browns are playing the Cowboys and the Jaguars are playing the Titans. Statistically, the Titans are SLIGHTLY better defensively than the Cowboys, but both are not great on pass defense. Other defensive stats are fairly equal therefore you can go with gut instinct here. The Browns/Cowboys game is expected to be very high scoring so you can go with Anderson based on that. Also, the Browns are more pass oriented while the Jags are run oriented. Anderson does tend to put up bigger numbers but Garrard is more efficient in every way (less INTs, high completion %). Going out on a limb, the Browns are at home this week against a Cowboys team that isn't great against pass defense but I'm gonna have to recommend starting Garrard against the Titans just because of how well he played through the end of last season and the playoffs. Think carry-over effect. It's the beginning of the season and I'm rooting for a break-out season for Garrard. How can you compare Vince Young and Derek Anderson personality wise? Question: I say the difference is the partying that Vince does and turning his back to others and his coach. Derek Anderson just snaps if you ask a stupid question or something. Tell me if I'm wrong and how. Answer: I don't really know much about Anderson, but Vince's personality is pure arrogance. He can't be coached, thinks he knows more than everybody else. |

Should beady quinn start over derek anderson? Question: Derek anderson is a pro bowler. Can quinn out up the same num bers? Answer: Hell No!! Anderson showed what he has, and he should remain a starter in this league, whether it be with Cleveland or another team. I love Anderson. |

Should I start Jason Campbell vs the Browns or Derek Anderson vs the Redskins? Question: Derek Anderson is obviously coming off a great season last year but hasn't done anything this season until last week against arguably one of the best defenses in the league. Jason Campbell never puts up big numbers but is generally safe. Answer: I'd go with Campbell for several reasons. The skins are going to be looking to rebound after last week. He's going to be passing the ball a lot more to keep up with DA, and he's much more accurate. Moss is too good to not have the ball thrown to him again. And lastly, the Browns are coming off a short week after a huge unexpected win where they played real hard. I think all the evidence points to Campbell |

Should I start Philip Rivers or Derek Anderson this week? Question: For week 6, at QB, should I start Philip Rivers or Derek Anderson? Philip plays the Raiders and Anderson plays the Dolphins. Answer: It's easy to say the Oakland pass D is better than Miami, but actually, the Miami pass D is #3 in the NFL right now and Oakland is #22. Miami is giving up 172 yds/game to 226 for Oakland. Both have given up 6 passing TDs. Oakland does have more interceptions. Despite the stats, I still like Anderson. Part of the reason that Miami gives up less passing yds is that they usually get killed on the ground. Cleveland doesn't have the running game to do that and Lewis won't play this week. Anderson is the number 4 QB in Yahoo scoring right now despite Frye starting week 1. |
